SAMPLE pROGRAM - ECONOMICS OF CHANGE: BUSINESS & CULTURE IN CUBA
For nearly sixty years, communist principles have ruled Cuba's economy and politics. But the winds of change are blowing strong. With the warming of U.S. - Cuba relations and the potential lift of the U.S. embargo, Cubans are imagining a new future. It's a fascinating time for business in Cuba. A budding private sector is emerging, and a new generation of entrepreneurs is hungry to seize opportunity.
This program offers a front row view of Cuba's economic transformation. Experts and business leaders provide an inside look at U.S.-Cuba relations, Cuba's economic reforms, foreign investment law, and the exploding tourism, food, and tobacco industries.
Lectures are paired with visits to development projects, hotels, factories, businesses, and government offices, giving students the chance to interface directly with Cubans living this economic transformation every day.
Throughout their journey, students experience the best of the island's culture, music, food, and fun. From baseball games and vintage car shops to exploring the winding streets of Old Havana, students are immersed in La Vida Cubana.
